….OF ROCKIES FEVER!
I can’t wait to go to another game next week, and watch them take on Albert Pujols and the St. Louis Cardinals.
This year has been a special one for the Rockies. They have been playing clean, unselfish baseball as a unit, not as individuals. Hitting sacrifice fly balls or laying down the sacrifice bunt when called upon are two of the things that the Rockies are doing often and efficiently.
Every player called upon off of the bench, whether it be Eric Young Jr. hitting his first home run in his first start last night, Jason Giambi coming up big with 4 RBI’s in his first 3 games in Rockies uniform as a pinch hitter, or Ryan Spilborghs HUGE 14th inning grand slam.
All of these players have given the already good Rockies a stellar boost heading into September. We only need to stay ahead in the wild card, and possibly even take the NL West from the Dodgers.
The only thing that is preventing them from pulling ahead of L.A. at this point are the key injuries that the ball club has sustained. Our biggest loss this late in the season is Huston Street, who has saved all but one of his save opportunities. Another late injury is Troy Tulowitzki out with back strains, but he should be back soon. Dexter Fowler returns tonight I believe after hitting a foul ball into his knee…ouch!
When the Rockies have had these injuries, other guys on the team have stepped in and stepped up to keep us in this pennant race.
This team has given me a reason to watch baseball! They play solid defense and are usually hot when swinging the bat, especially Yorvit Torrealba, on a career high 16 game hitting streak right now.

Frisbee is still my favorite sport, but with a DVR I will definately be tuning in to the Rockies all September long.
